Description

The Inductor 4.7uH is a fixed inductor with an inductance of 4.7 µH (microhenry). Low values like this are used where frequencies are high: in switching DC-DC converters, in RF circuits and in filters that block high-frequency noise on supply lines. It has no polarity and suits prototyping, repairs and lab work.

Inductor 4.7uH Specifications

  • Inductance: 4.7 µH (0.0047 mH)
  • Type: fixed inductor, passive component
  • Polarity: none, can be fitted either way round
  • Reactance: about 2.95 Ω at 100 kHz, 29.5 Ω at 1 MHz and 295 Ω at 10 MHz (XL = 2πfL)
  • Resonance: about 232 kHz with a 100 nF capacitor (f = 1 / (2π√LC))

Inductor 4.7uH Applications

  • Buck and boost DC-DC converters that call for 4.7 µH (check the converter datasheet)
  • LC and pi filters that remove switching noise from power rails
  • RF chokes and tuned circuits
  • Separating noisy digital supplies from analog or RF sections
  • Electronics labs for learning about RL and LC circuits

What's in the Box

  • 1 × 4.7 µH inductor

Tip: 4.7 µH is a common value for small switching regulators, but the inductor must also handle the converter's peak current without saturating, so compare its current rating with the regulator datasheet. Keep leads short when the exact inductance matters.
