L293D Motor Driver Board

The L293D Motor Driver Board is a motor control board built around the L293D driver IC. It lets an Arduino or other microcontroller run DC motors forward and in reverse, control their speed with PWM and drive stepper motors, while the motors take their power from a separate supply. It is a popular choice for robot cars and beginner robotics projects.

Tip: The L293D suits small motors that draw up to about 600 mA each; for bigger motors choose an L298N or MOSFET driver. Power the motors from a separate battery pack, connect its ground to the Arduino ground, and expect the motors to receive a couple of volts less than the supply because of the driver's internal voltage drop.
