Power Transistor 2N3055 100V 15A

The Power Transistor 2N3055 is a classic NPN silicon power transistor in a TO-3 metal case, rated for 15 A of collector current and 115 W of power dissipation with a good heatsink. It has been used for decades in linear power supplies, audio power amplifiers and motor drivers, and it is still a common replacement part for repairs.

Tip: Always mount the 2N3055 on a heatsink, using a mica or silicone insulator and insulating bushes, because the metal case is connected to the collector. Its gain is low, so drive the base through a smaller driver transistor or a Darlington stage when switching high currents from a microcontroller.
