Description
The Relay Grove module lets an Arduino, Raspberry Pi or other microcontroller switch a separate, higher-power circuit with a single digital signal. It works as a normally open switch: when the signal pin goes HIGH the relay closes and an on-board LED lights, and when it goes LOW the circuit opens again. The Grove connector plugs straight into a Grove Base Shield, so the control side needs no breadboard or soldering.
Relay Grove Specifications
- Operating voltage: 3.3–5 V (V1.2), so it works with 3.3 V and 5 V boards
- Operating current: about 100 mA with the relay on
- Max switching voltage: 250 VAC or 30 VDC
- Max switching current: 5 A
- Contact type: normally open, closes when SIG is HIGH
- Relay life: about 100,000 cycles
- Interface: Grove 4-pin connector with one digital signal pin
Relay Grove Applications
- Switching lamps, fans and pumps from Arduino code
- Home automation and smart plug projects
- Timers, thermostats and plant watering systems
- Grove classroom kits and STEM projects
What's in the Box
- 1 × Relay Grove module
Tip: Plug the module into a digital Grove port and use digitalWrite(pin, HIGH) to close the relay. Keep the load within 5 A, and take great care with mains voltage: wire it only with the power off and keep all live connections insulated.
