Transformer 18-0-18V 2VA

The Transformer 18-0-18V 2VA is a small centre-tapped step-down transformer with an 18-0-18 V AC secondary and a 2 VA power rating. It gives 18 V AC from each half of the secondary, or 36 V AC across both, at up to about 55 mA. It is meant for light loads such as op-amp rails, reference circuits, standby supplies and mains-isolated sensing.

Tip: A 2 VA transformer only supplies a few tens of milliamps, so check your circuit's total current first. Small transformers read noticeably higher than 18 V with no load, so use 50 V filter capacitors. The primary connects to mains: insulate it, add a fuse and never work on it while it is plugged in.
