Transistor TIP3055 15A 60V NPN

The Transistor TIP3055 15A 60V NPN is a high-power NPN bipolar transistor rated 60 V and 15 A continuous collector current, with 90 W of power dissipation. It is the plastic-package counterpart of the classic 2N3055 and the complement of the PNP TIP2955, which makes it a popular choice for audio power amplifiers, linear bench supplies and heavy-load switching.

Tip: The gain falls at high current (as low as 20 at 4 A), so a microcontroller pin cannot drive it directly at full load; use a driver transistor or a Darlington arrangement. Always use a heatsink with thermal paste, and insulate the metal back, which is connected to the collector.
