Ultrasonic Transmitter UST-40T

The Ultrasonic Transmitter UST-40T is a 40 kHz ultrasonic transducer that turns an electrical signal into sound waves above the range of human hearing. The "T" marks it as the transmitter; it works together with a matching receiver such as the UST-40R to build distance sensors, object detectors and remote triggers, using the same principle as the popular HC-SR04 sensor module.

Tip: Drive the transmitter at 40 kHz, for example with a 555 timer or a microcontroller PWM output. A higher drive voltage through a transistor or driver IC gives longer range, as long as you stay within the part's rating. Aim it straight at the receiver or target, because the beam is directional.
