The Ceramic Capacitor 150pF 330V 331K is a disc-type metal oxide varistor (MOV) with a varistor voltage of 330 V, sold in a pack of 5. Although it is listed as a ceramic capacitor, the 331K code and the 330 V rating mark it as a varistor: a voltage-dependent resistor that barely conducts at normal working voltage and clamps voltage spikes and surges to protect the rest of the circuit.

Tip: Connect the varistor in parallel with the line you want to protect, after a fuse, so that if it ever fails short the fuse opens. The 331K is too low for 220–230 V mains; use a 431K or 471K varistor there instead.
