Description
The Crystal Resonator 1MHz is a two-terminal passive quartz crystal that resonates at 1 MHz. Paired with an oscillator circuit, such as the one built into most microcontrollers or a simple inverter-gate circuit, it produces a clock signal that is far more stable and accurate than an RC oscillator. The low 1 MHz frequency suits slow, low-power clocks and timing references that are easy to divide down.
Crystal Resonator 1MHz Specifications
- Frequency: 1 MHz
- Type: quartz crystal resonator, passive, two terminals
- Polarity: none, can be fitted either way round
- Load capacitors: usually one small capacitor from each pin to GND; use the value your oscillator circuit needs
- Pack size: 1 piece
Crystal Resonator 1MHz Applications
- Low-speed clock for PIC and other microcontrollers
- Crystal oscillators built with CMOS inverter gates such as the 74HC04 or CD4069
- Frequency reference for counters and dividers
- Checking and calibrating frequency meters
- Electronics labs on oscillators
What's in the Box
- 1 × 1 MHz crystal
Tip: Keep the crystal and its two load capacitors close to the oscillator pins, with short leads, to avoid start-up problems. On a PIC microcontroller, choose the XT oscillator mode for a 1 MHz crystal.
