The Electromagnet 24V 0.48A 2520P24Y50 is a round holding electromagnet that runs on 24 V DC, draws 0.48 A and gives up to 9 kg of pull on a steel surface. When power is applied it holds iron or steel parts firmly against its face, and it releases them as soon as the current is switched off, so it is easy to control from a relay, a transistor or a microcontroller.

Tip: Switch the coil with a relay or a MOSFET rated for at least 0.5 A, and fit a diode such as the 1N4007 across the coil (cathode to +) to absorb the voltage spike at switch-off. Holding force is highest on clean, flat, thick steel in full contact with the face; air gaps, paint or thin sheet reduce it considerably.
