Slide it over a joint or connector and warm it with a heat gun: the tube shrinks tightly around the wire to insulate it, protect it from moisture and add strain relief. Tip: Slide the tubing onto the cable before you solder or crimp, then move it over the joint once it has cooled. Cut a piece that overlaps the bare metal by a few millimetres on each side and shrink it evenly with a heat gun; avoid open flames, which can scorch or split the tube.
