Description
The PICKIT3 Programmer Simulator is a PICkit 3 type in-circuit programmer and debugger for Microchip PIC microcontrollers. It connects to your computer by USB and to the target board through a 6-pin ICSP header, so you can write firmware to a chip, read it back and step through your code with breakpoints. It is a practical tool for students, hobbyists and engineers working with PIC chips.
PICKIT3 Programmer Simulator Specifications
- Function: in-circuit serial programming (ICSP) and in-circuit debugging
- Supported devices: PIC10F, PIC12F, PIC16F, PIC18F, PIC24, dsPIC30, dsPIC33 and PIC32 families (check the device support list for your chip)
- PC connection: USB, Mini-USB socket
- Target connection: 6-pin ICSP header, 2.54 mm pitch: MCLR/VPP, VDD, GND, PGD, PGC, PGM (LVP)
- Software: Microchip MPLAB X IDE and MPLAB IPE (check that your version lists PICkit 3 support)
PICKIT3 Programmer Simulator Applications
- Programming PIC16F877A, PIC16F88, PIC18F4550 and other PIC chips
- Debugging firmware on the target board with breakpoints
- University and school microcontroller labs
- Updating firmware on boards that have an ICSP header
What's in the Box
- 1 × PICKIT3 programmer
Tip: Pin 1 (MCLR/VPP) is marked with an arrow on the programmer; line it up with pin 1 of the ICSP header on your board. For circuits that draw more than a few tens of milliamps, power the target from its own supply rather than from the programmer.
