Reed Switch 2*14mm

The Reed Switch 2*14mm is a small magnetic switch with a glass body about 2 mm in diameter and 14 mm long. Inside the sealed glass tube are two thin metal reeds; when a magnet comes close, the reeds pull together and close the circuit, and when the magnet moves away they open again. It needs no power of its own, which makes it a simple sensor for doors, counters and alarms.

Tip: The glass breaks easily. When bending the leads, hold each lead with pliers between the bend and the glass, and keep soldering short so heat does not crack the seal. Use it for low-current signals and switch heavier loads through a relay or transistor.
