Tip: Start at around 320–350 °C for leaded solder and 350–380 °C for lead-free, and only go higher for large joints. Keep the tip tinned and clean it on a damp sponge or brass wool. Always rest the hot iron in a stand, never leave it unattended, and unplug it after use.
