Description

The Sparkfun RedBoard (SparkFun part DEV-13975) is an Arduino Uno compatible development board built around the ATmega328P microcontroller. It has the same shape and header layout as the Uno R3, so it works with standard Arduino shields, code and tutorials, and it uses an FTDI USB-to-serial chip for reliable uploads from the Arduino IDE. It is a solid first board for students, makers and engineers.

Sparkfun RedBoard Specifications

  • Microcontroller: ATmega328P at 16 MHz
  • Operating voltage: 5 V
  • Digital I/O pins: 14, of which 6 support PWM
  • Analog inputs: 6
  • Memory: 32 KB flash, 2 KB SRAM, 1 KB EEPROM
  • USB interface: FTDI FT231X USB-to-serial
  • Layout: Arduino Uno R3 footprint, compatible with standard shields

Sparkfun RedBoard Applications

  • Learning Arduino programming and electronics
  • Reading sensors and logging data
  • Robotics and motor control with shields
  • Prototyping products before designing a custom PCB
  • University labs and STEM classes

What's in the Box

  • 1 × SparkFun RedBoard DEV-13975

Tip: In the Arduino IDE, select 'Arduino Uno' as the board. If the serial port does not appear, install the FTDI VCP driver. Keep each I/O pin to about 20 mA and never apply more than 5 V to a pin.
