Description
The Thermistor PTC 1.0K is a positive temperature coefficient (PTC) thermistor with a nominal resistance of 1.0 kΩ. Its resistance rises as its temperature rises, so an Arduino, ESP32 or comparator circuit can read it as a temperature-dependent resistor. It is a simple, low-cost part for temperature sensing, over-temperature detection and electronics lessons.
Thermistor PTC 1.0K Specifications
- Type: PTC thermistor (positive temperature coefficient)
- Nominal resistance: 1.0 kΩ (thermistors are normally rated at 25 °C)
- Behaviour: resistance increases as temperature increases
- Connection: 2 leads, no polarity
- Reading: analog, through a voltage divider or bridge circuit
Thermistor PTC 1.0K Applications
- Temperature measurement with an Arduino or ESP32 analog input
- Over-temperature detection in power supplies, motors and battery packs
- Thermostat and fan control circuits
- Temperature compensation in analog circuits
- Physics and electronics lab experiments
What's in the Box
- 1 × PTC thermistor, 1.0 kΩ
Tip: Connect the thermistor in series with a fixed 1 kΩ resistor between 5 V (or 3.3 V) and GND and read the midpoint with an analog pin. Keep the current low so the thermistor does not heat itself, and calibrate your readings against a known thermometer.
