Description
The Transformer Pulse 8V 1:1:1 is a small pulse transformer with three windings in a 1:1:1 ratio: one primary and two equal secondaries. It passes short trigger pulses from a low-voltage control circuit to the gate of a power device while keeping the two sides electrically isolated. This makes it a common part in thyristor (SCR) and triac firing circuits, motor speed controllers and power converters.
Transformer Pulse 8V 1:1:1 Specifications
- Type: pulse (trigger) transformer
- Turns ratio: 1:1:1, one primary and two secondaries
- Voltage: 8 V, as rated in the product name
- Function: galvanic isolation between the control and power circuits
- Signal type: short gate pulses, not continuous power transfer
Transformer Pulse 8V 1:1:1 Applications
- Triggering SCRs and triacs in phase-control circuits
- Firing two thyristors from one control signal, for example a pair in a bridge rectifier
- Isolated gate signals in inverters and power converters
- Power electronics labs and university projects
What's in the Box
- 1 × pulse transformer 8 V 1:1:1
Tip: Drive the primary from a transistor and place a diode (or a diode and Zener) across the primary so the winding can reset between pulses. Keep the pulses short: a long pulse saturates the core and the output collapses.
