Wemos D1 ESP8266 Chip

The Wemos D1 ESP8266 is a Wi-Fi development board built around the ESP8266 chip, made in the same size and header layout as an Arduino Uno. It programs over micro USB with the Arduino IDE or MicroPython, so you can move Uno-style projects onto Wi-Fi and build web servers, IoT sensors and smart home controllers with familiar tools.

Tip: Although the board looks like an Uno, its I/O pins work at 3.3 V, so check that shields and sensors are 3.3 V compatible or use level shifting. In the Arduino IDE, install the ESP8266 board package and select 'LOLIN(WEMOS) D1 R2 & mini' as the board.
