Description
The 5V Active Buzzer is a small sound component with a built-in oscillator, so it beeps at a fixed tone as soon as 5 V DC is applied. Because it needs no tone signal, you can switch it on and off from any Arduino or microcontroller digital pin with a simple HIGH or LOW. It is the easiest way to add alarms, beeps and alerts to a project, and a common part in electronics and coding classes.
5V Active Buzzer Specifications
- Rated voltage: 5 V DC
- Type: active, with internal oscillator
- Sound: single fixed tone
- Control: on/off with a DC supply or a digital output pin
- Polarity: polarised, connect + to the positive supply
5V Active Buzzer Applications
- Alarm and warning sounds in security projects
- Timer, countdown and reminder beeps
- Button press and keypad feedback
- Fault and status alerts in machines and robots
- Arduino and STEM projects
What's in the Box
- 1 × 5 V active buzzer
Tip: An active buzzer beeps with plain DC; a passive buzzer needs a changing signal such as Arduino's tone() function. If the buzzer needs more current than your board's pin can supply, switch it with an NPN transistor such as the 2N2222 or BC547 and a 1 kΩ base resistor.
