Description
The Coin Vibration Motor is a flat, disc-shaped DC motor rated at 3 V that vibrates when it is powered. Inside the sealed coin-shaped case, a small off-centre weight spins and shakes the motor, the same way a mobile phone vibrates. Its thin, flat shape fits inside wearables, handheld controllers and small enclosures where a normal motor would not fit.
Coin Vibration Motor Specifications
- Type: coin (disc) vibration motor with an eccentric rotating mass
- Rated voltage: 3 V DC
- Shape: flat, round, sealed case with no exposed moving parts
- Connection: 2 terminals, positive and negative
- Mounting: the flat back is fixed to the surface that should vibrate
Coin Vibration Motor Applications
- Haptic feedback for buttons, touch screens and game controllers
- Silent alerts in wearables, watches and pagers
- Notification buzzers in Arduino and ESP32 projects
- Obstacle-warning aids, such as smart canes for visually impaired users
- Small vibrating robots and toys
What's in the Box
- 1 × 3 V coin vibration motor
Tip: Drive the motor from a microcontroller through an NPN transistor such as the 2N2222 or BC547, with a 1N4148 or 1N4007 diode across the motor, because its start-up current is more than a GPIO pin should supply. Keep the supply close to the 3 V rating; you can use PWM on the transistor to adjust the vibration strength.
