DC-005 Female DC Power Jack supply socket 5.5x2.1mm

The DC-005 Female DC Power Jack is a PCB-mount barrel socket for the common 5.5 × 2.1 mm DC plug. Solder it to your board to add a power input that accepts standard wall adapters, like the ones used for Arduino boards, routers and LED strips. A third switch contact changes state when a plug is inserted, which can be used to switch a circuit over from battery to adapter power.

Tip: Most adapters are centre-positive, but check with a multimeter which terminal connects to the centre pin before soldering. A 5.5 × 2.5 mm plug fits loosely on this 2.1 mm pin and may lose contact, so match the plug size to your adapter.
