Potentiometer Carbon500K ohm

The Potentiometer Carbon500K ohm is a carbon-track potentiometer with a total resistance of 500 kΩ. Turning the adjuster moves a wiper along the carbon track, so the resistance between the wiper and each end changes smoothly from almost zero up to 500 kΩ. High values like this are used in audio, op-amp and timing circuits where very little current should flow through the control.

Tip: Connect the two outer pins across the voltage and take the adjustable voltage from the wiper, usually the middle pin. For Arduino analog inputs a 10 kΩ potentiometer gives steadier readings, because the ADC works best with a source resistance of 10 kΩ or less; keep the 500 kΩ value for high-impedance circuits.
