The SIM 800L V2.0 5V Wireless GSM GPRS Module is a SIM800L quad-band GSM/GPRS board that runs from a 5 V supply, which makes it easier to power than the bare SIM800L core board, whose chip needs 3.4–4.4 V. Controlled with AT commands over a serial port, it lets an Arduino, ESP32 or other microcontroller send and receive SMS, make calls and send data over GPRS. Tip: The module draws current peaks of up to about 2 A when it transmits, so power it from a supply that can deliver this, not from the Arduino 5 V pin. It works only on 2G GSM networks, so check that your SIM card and operator still support 2G.
