Description

The SIM900 arduino GSM Development board is a GSM/GPRS shield built around the SIMCom SIM900 module. It plugs onto an Arduino Uno-style board and lets your project send and receive SMS messages, make and answer voice calls and connect to the internet over GPRS, all controlled with simple AT commands over a serial link. It suits remote alarms, SMS-controlled relays and data loggers in places with no Wi-Fi.

SIM900 arduino GSM Development board Specifications

  • Data: GPRS multi-slot class 10
  • Functions: SMS, voice calls and GPRS data (TCP/UDP)
  • Control: AT commands over a serial (UART) link
  • Format: Arduino shield
  • Peak current: up to about 2 A during transmit bursts (SIM900 module)

SIM900 arduino GSM Development board Applications

  • SMS alerts from alarms, sensors and water-level monitors
  • Remote control of relays and pumps by SMS or phone call
  • GPRS data logging to a web server
  • Vehicle and asset trackers when combined with a GPS module
  • Learning mobile communication and AT commands

What's in the Box

  • 1 × SIM900 GSM/GPRS shield (SIM card not included)

Tip: The SIM900 is a 2G module, so check that your mobile operator still runs a 2G GSM network in your area before you build on it. Power the shield from an external supply that can deliver about 2 A; USB power alone often makes the module reset when it transmits.
