Description
The Cement Wound Resistor 10W 150 Ohm is a wirewound power resistor with a resistance of 150 Ω and a power rating of 10 W, sealed in a ceramic cement body. The cement case insulates the winding and spreads the heat, so the resistor can carry far more power than ordinary 0.25 W or 0.5 W film resistors. It is used for loads, current limiting and capacitor discharge in power circuits and appliance repairs.
Cement Wound Resistor 10W 150 Ohm Specifications
- Resistance: 150 Ω
- Power rating: 10 W
- Type: wirewound resistor in a ceramic (cement) case, leaded
- Maximum current at 10 W: about 0.26 A (I = √(P / R))
- Maximum voltage at 10 W: about 39 V across the resistor (V = √(P × R))
- Polarity: none
Cement Wound Resistor 10W 150 Ohm Applications
- Dummy loads for testing power supplies and chargers at low current
- Bleeder resistors for discharging capacitors safely
- Current limiting in power and motor circuits
- Inrush current limiting
- Amplifier, power supply and appliance repairs
What's in the Box
- 1 × 150 Ω 10 W cement wound resistor
Tip: Check the power with P = V² / R: at 12 V this resistor draws 80 mA and dissipates about 1 W, while at 39 V it reaches the full 10 W. Cement resistors get hot near their rating, so aim for about half the rated power and keep them clear of plastic parts and wire insulation.
