Description
The Inductor 47uH is a fixed inductor with an inductance of 47 µH (microhenry). An inductor stores energy in a magnetic field and resists fast changes in current, which makes it useful for filtering power rails, building LC filters and smoothing the output of switching regulators. This through-hole part with axial leads fits breadboards, perfboards and PCBs.
Inductor 47uH Specifications
- Inductance: 47 µH (0.047 mH)
- Type: fixed inductor, passive component
- Mounting: through-hole, axial leads
- Polarity: none, can be fitted either way round
- Reactance: about 29.5 Ω at 100 kHz and 295 Ω at 1 MHz (XL = 2πfL)
Inductor 47uH Applications
- Input and output filters for DC-DC buck and boost converters
- LC low-pass filters on power supply lines
- RF chokes that block high-frequency signals while passing DC
- Reducing noise (EMI) between digital and analog sections of a board
- Electronics labs for learning about RL and LC circuits
What's in the Box
- 1 × 47 µH inductor
Tip: With a 100 nF capacitor, a 47 µH inductor resonates at about 73 kHz (f = 1 / (2π√LC)). In power circuits, keep the current through the inductor within its rating, because too much current makes it overheat and can saturate its core, which lowers the inductance.
