Description
The Potentiometer Carbon 1K Ohm is a variable resistor with a carbon resistive track and a total resistance of 1 kΩ. Turning the adjuster moves a wiper along the track, so you can set a voltage or a resistance by hand. It is a common part for adjusting levels in audio, LED and sensor circuits, and for giving an Arduino or ESP32 a simple analog control input.
Potentiometer Carbon 1K Ohm Specifications
- Total resistance: 1 kΩ (1,000 ohms) between the two outer terminals
- Track type: carbon
- Terminals: 3 (two track ends and the middle wiper)
- Function: adjustable voltage divider, or variable resistor (rheostat) using the wiper and one end
Potentiometer Carbon 1K Ohm Applications
- Analog input knobs for Arduino and ESP32 projects
- Setting LED brightness or motor speed in PWM controller circuits
- Adjusting reference voltages and calibration points
- Volume and tone controls in small audio circuits
- Electronics classes and prototyping
What's in the Box
- 1 × 1 kΩ carbon potentiometer
Tip: To read it with an Arduino, connect the outer terminals to 5 V and GND and the middle terminal to an analog input such as A0. A 1 kΩ track draws about 5 mA at 5 V; if you only need a control knob, a higher value such as 10 kΩ wastes less current.
