Potentiometer Carbon 470 ohm

The Potentiometer Carbon 470 ohm is a variable resistor with a carbon resistive track and a total resistance of 470 Ω. Turning the adjuster moves the wiper along the track, so you can set a resistance or a voltage by hand. The low 470 Ω value suits circuits that need fine adjustment of a small resistance, such as setting LED current, transistor bias or the level of a low-impedance signal.

Tip: Connected across 5 V as a voltage divider, a 470 Ω track draws about 11 mA all the time, so higher values such as 10 kΩ are better for simple Arduino knobs. When you use it as a variable resistor in series with a load, add a fixed resistor so the current stays safe when the wiper reaches 0 Ω.
