The Resistor 0.25W 1.8 ohm is a low-value through-hole resistor rated at 0.25 W, supplied in a pack of 10. With only 1.8 Ω of resistance it drops very little voltage, which makes it useful as a simple current shunt, as an emitter resistor in transistor circuits and wherever a small, predictable series resistance is needed.

Tip: When using it as a current shunt, measure the voltage directly at the resistor's leads. Breadboard contacts and jumper wires add their own resistance, which is a noticeable fraction of 1.8 Ω and would make the current reading wrong.
