Tip: Resistors have no polarity, so they can be fitted either way round. With 200 Ω, the 0.25 W limit is reached at about 7.1 V across the resistor (about 35 mA). A red LED on 5 V through 200 Ω draws about 15 mA, but never connect the resistor directly across a 9 V or 12 V supply, as it would overheat.
