Tip: Resistors have no polarity, so they can be fitted either way round. At 12 V a 270 kΩ resistor passes only about 44 µA and dissipates around 0.5 mW, far below its 0.25 W rating; in high-impedance dividers, keep leads short and the board clean, as leakage and noise pickup matter more at high resistance.
