Tip: Resistors have no polarity, so they can be fitted either way round. With a red LED (about 2 V) on a 5 V pin, a 300 Ω resistor sets about 10 mA. The 0.25 W limit is reached at about 8.7 V across the resistor (about 29 mA), so check the power (P = V² / R) at higher supply voltages.
