Tip: Resistors have no polarity, so they can be fitted either way round. With only 47 Ω, the 0.25 W limit is reached at about 3.4 V across the resistor (about 73 mA), so always check the power (P = V² / R or P = I² × R) before using it in 5 V or 12 V circuits.
