Tip: Resistors have no polarity, so they can be fitted either way round. With 75 Ω, the 0.25 W limit is reached at about 4.3 V across the resistor (about 58 mA), so do not connect it directly across 5 V. A red LED on a 3.3 V output through 75 Ω draws about 17 mA.
