Tip: Resistors have no polarity, so they can be fitted either way round. With 120 kΩ, the 0.5 W limit is only reached at about 245 V across the resistor (P = V² / R), so power is no concern in 3.3 V to 24 V circuits; at higher voltages also check the resistor's maximum working voltage.
