Resistor 0.5W 3.3 ohm (5 pcs)

The Resistor 0.5W 3.3 ohm is a through-hole fixed resistor with a very low resistance of 3.3 Ω and a power rating of 0.5 W, sold in a pack of 5. Values this low are mainly used to measure current as a sense (shunt) resistor, to limit current in small motor and LED driver circuits, and to add a little series resistance in power and speaker test circuits.

Tip: Resistors have no polarity, and the colour bands for 3.3 Ω are orange, orange, gold. The 0.5 W limit is reached at only about 1.3 V across it, so never connect it directly across a supply. As a current-sense resistor it drops 3.3 V per amp, for example 0.33 V at 100 mA.
