Resistor 0.5W 30 ohm (5 pcs)

The Resistor 0.5W 30 ohm is a low-value through-hole fixed resistor with a resistance of 30 Ω and a power rating of 0.5 W, sold in a pack of 5. It is used in circuits where more current flows, such as series current limiting at low voltages, small test loads and gate or snubber resistors, and the 0.5 W rating gives more headroom than common 0.25 W parts.

Tip: Resistors have no polarity, so they can be fitted either way round. At 3.3 V across it, 30 Ω draws about 110 mA and dissipates 0.36 W; at 5 V it would dissipate about 0.83 W, well over its 0.5 W rating, so do not connect it straight across a 5 V supply.
