Tip: Resistors have no polarity, so they can be fitted either way round. With 75 kΩ, the 0.5 W limit is only reached at about 194 V across the resistor (P = V² / R), and at 12 V it passes only about 0.16 mA, so it is very safe in low-voltage circuits.
