Resistor 220 ohm 20W

The Resistor 220 ohm 20W is a high-power fixed resistor with a resistance of 220 Ω and a power rating of 20 W. It can dissipate far more heat than standard 0.25 W or 0.5 W resistors, so it is used where real power must be handled, such as test loads for 24 V and 48 V supplies, discharging large capacitors and limiting current in power circuits.

Tip: At high power the resistor gets very hot, so mount it in free air away from wires and plastic parts and do not touch it while in use. For continuous use, keep the load to about half the rating, 10 W, which with 220 Ω means no more than about 47 V across it.
