Shunt Resistor for DC Current Meter Display

The Shunt Resistor for DC Current Meter displays is a precision low-resistance resistor that lets a digital or analog panel ammeter measure high DC currents. The load current flows through the shunt, and the meter reads the small voltage drop across it, in millivolts, and shows it as amps. It is used with DC voltmeter-ammeter displays in solar systems, battery banks, chargers and power supplies.

Tip: Install the shunt in series with the load, normally on the negative wire, and connect the meter's sense leads to the two small screws. Use cables thick enough for the full current and tighten the large terminals firmly to avoid heating.
