Timer 555 NE555

The Timer 555 NE555 is the classic 555 timer IC, used to build oscillators, pulse generators and time delays with just a few resistors and capacitors. It works in astable mode, giving a continuous square wave to flash an LED or sound a buzzer, or in monostable mode, giving a single pulse of a set length. Its output can drive LEDs, buzzers and small relays directly.

Tip: In astable mode the frequency is about 1.44 ÷ ((R1 + 2 × R2) × C). Tie pin 4 (RESET) to VCC when not used, and connect a 10 nF capacitor from pin 5 to GND for stable timing. Add a diode across any relay coil it drives.
