Description
The 16 Bit Neopixel WS2812 RGB LED ring is a round board with 16 individually addressable WS2812 RGB LEDs that runs on 5 V. Each LED contains its own driver chip, so one data pin from an Arduino, ESP32 or Raspberry Pi Pico controls the colour and brightness of every LED separately. It is a good middle size for indicators, small lamps and animated light effects.
16 Bit Neopixel WS2812 Ring Specifications
- LEDs: 16 × WS2812 RGB LEDs (5050 size) with integrated driver
- Supply voltage: 5 V
- Control: one data line, LEDs chained in series
- Colour depth: 8 bits per colour channel (24-bit colour, about 16.7 million colours)
- Connections: 5 V, GND, data in (DI) and data out (DO)
- Current: up to about 60 mA per LED at full white, about 0.96 A for the whole ring
- Chaining: DO can feed the DI of another ring or strip
16 Bit Neopixel WS2812 Ring Applications
- Status and notification lights for smart home devices
- Circular level meters, timers and compass displays
- Robot eyes, wearables and cosplay props
- Ambient and decorative lighting
- Learning addressable LEDs with Arduino and ESP32
What's in the Box
- 1 × 16-LED WS2812 RGB LED ring
Tip: Use the Adafruit NeoPixel or FastLED library, add a 300–500 Ω resistor in the data line and a 1000 µF capacitor across 5 V and GND. With a 3.3 V board such as the ESP32, a logic level shifter on the data line makes the signal more reliable.
