Description
The 41F Hall effect sensor is a digital magnetic switch of the SS41F type. It is a bipolar latching sensor: the output switches on with one magnetic pole and stays in that state until the opposite pole is applied. This behaviour is ideal for ring magnets and rotating shafts, so it is often used for brushless motor commutation, speed counting and position detection with an Arduino or other microcontroller.
41F Hall Specifications
- Type: digital Hall effect sensor, bipolar latching
- Output: open collector, needs a pull-up resistor
- Output sink current: up to about 20 mA
- Package: 3-pin TO-92 style
- Typical supply: 5 V or 12 V circuits
41F Hall Applications
- Brushless DC motor commutation
- RPM and speed measurement with ring or multi-pole magnets
- Wheel and shaft rotation counting
- Position and end-stop detection
What's in the Box
- 1 × 41F Hall effect sensor
Tip: Add a 10 kΩ pull-up resistor from the output to VCC, or use the microcontroller's internal pull-up. Because the sensor latches, a single magnet pole will switch it only once; use alternating north and south poles, such as a ring magnet, to get a clean on/off signal on every turn.
