5mm 940nm Infrared Receiver LED IR Diode LED

The 5mm 940nm Infrared Receiver LED is a 5 mm through-hole infrared receiver diode with its peak sensitivity at 940 nm, the wavelength of common IR emitter LEDs. Paired with a 940 nm IR LED, it lets you detect objects, reflections and broken beams with an Arduino or ESP32, and the same emitter and receiver pair is the basis of many obstacle and line-tracking sensor modules.

Tip: Connect it in series with a resistor of about 10 kΩ between 5 V and GND and read the voltage at the junction with an analog pin. Receiver diodes are normally used reverse-biased, so if the reading does not change when IR light hits it, swap its two leads. To decode TV remote signals, use a 3-pin IR receiver module such as the VS1838B instead.
