Description

The ADXL345 Digital Angle acceleration sensor module is a 3-axis accelerometer board based on the Analog Devices ADXL345 chip. It measures acceleration on the X, Y and Z axes, including the pull of gravity, so it can work out tilt angles as well as motion, shocks and vibration. Data is read over I2C or SPI, which makes it easy to use with Arduino, ESP32 and Raspberry Pi boards.

ADXL345 Acceleration Sensor Specifications

  • Sensor: ADXL345 3-axis digital accelerometer
  • Measurement range: ±2 g, ±4 g, ±8 g or ±16 g, selectable
  • Resolution: up to 13-bit, about 4 mg per step in full-resolution mode
  • Interface: I2C or SPI
  • I2C address: 0x53 or 0x1D, set by the SDO pin
  • Output data rate: 0.1 Hz to 3200 Hz
  • Built-in functions: tap, double-tap, activity, inactivity and free-fall detection with two interrupt outputs

ADXL345 Acceleration Sensor Applications

  • Tilt angle and inclinometer projects
  • Robot orientation and self-balancing tests
  • Step counters and activity trackers
  • Drop, shock and vibration detection
  • Gesture and motion control for games

What's in the Box

  • 1 × ADXL345 acceleration sensor module

Tip: To get a tilt angle, read the axes while the sensor is still and calculate the angle with atan2, for example roll = atan2(y, z). Libraries such as the Adafruit ADXL345 library handle the setup and give readings in m/s².
