Description

The Arduino GPS module GTU7 is a GT-U7 GPS receiver board that works out its position from satellite signals and sends the result over a serial (UART) connection. Connect it to an Arduino, ESP32, ESP8266 or Raspberry Pi to read latitude, longitude, altitude, speed and UTC time in your own projects, from trackers to weather stations.

Arduino GPS module GTU7 Specifications

  • Module: GT-U7 GPS receiver
  • Interface: UART (TTL serial) with TX and RX pins
  • Data format: standard NMEA sentences, such as GGA and RMC
  • Data provided: latitude, longitude, altitude, speed, course, date and UTC time
  • Power pins: VCC and GND

Arduino GPS module GTU7 Applications

  • GPS trackers and data loggers for cars, bikes and parcels
  • Robots, rovers and drones that need to know their location
  • Accurate time and date for clocks and data logging
  • Weather stations and field sensors that record coordinates
  • Learning about GPS and serial communication in STEM classes

What's in the Box

  • 1 × GT-U7 GPS module

Tip: Test the module outdoors or next to a window, because the first position fix after power-up can take a minute or more. On an Arduino Uno, connect the module TX pin to a SoftwareSerial RX pin and use the TinyGPS++ library to decode the NMEA data.
