Description
The BMP180 Digital Barometric Pressure Sensor Module measures air pressure and temperature and sends the readings over I2C. Because air pressure falls as you go higher, it can also estimate altitude. It is a popular low-cost sensor for Arduino, ESP32 and Raspberry Pi weather stations, altimeters and drones, and it is the successor to the BMP085.
BMP180 Barometric Pressure Sensor Specifications
- Sensor: Bosch BMP180
- Pressure range: 300–1100 hPa (about +9000 m to −500 m altitude)
- Also measures: temperature
- Interface: I2C, address 0x77
- Sensor chip supply: 1.8–3.6 V
- Low power: about 5 µA at one sample per second (standard mode)
- Module pins: power, GND, SCL and SDA (labels vary by board)
BMP180 Barometric Pressure Sensor Applications
- Home weather stations and pressure trend forecasting
- Altitude measurement for drones, model rockets and hiking gadgets
- Indoor and outdoor environment monitoring with ESP32 or ESP8266
- Physics and STEM experiments on air pressure
What's in the Box
- 1 × BMP180 barometric pressure sensor module
Tip: Check the pin labels and supply voltage printed on your module before powering it: boards with an on-board regulator accept 5 V, while others need 3.3 V. Use the Adafruit BMP085/BMP180 library, and for accurate altitude enter the current sea-level pressure for your area.
