Description

The 12-bit MCP4725 DAC Module is a small breakout board for the MCP4725 digital-to-analog converter. It turns a number sent over I2C into a real analog voltage, giving Arduino, ESP32 and Raspberry Pi projects a true analog output with 4096 steps. A built-in EEPROM remembers the output value, so the module can start at a set voltage after power-up.

12-bit MCP4725 DAC Module Specifications

  • Chip: MCP4725, single-channel DAC
  • Resolution: 12 bits (4096 steps)
  • Interface: I2C (standard, fast and high-speed modes)
  • Supply voltage: 2.7–5.5 V, works with 3.3 V and 5 V boards
  • Output: buffered rail-to-rail voltage output, 0 V to VCC
  • Memory: on-chip EEPROM stores the DAC code and power-down setting
  • Settling time: about 6 µs

12-bit MCP4725 DAC Module Applications

  • Generating analog control voltages from a microcontroller
  • Simple waveform and audio tone generation
  • Setting reference or bias voltages in test circuits
  • Driving the analog inputs of motor drivers, LED drivers and power supplies
  • Learning how DACs work in electronics courses

What's in the Box

  • 1 × MCP4725 12-bit DAC module

Tip: The MCP4725 uses its supply as the reference, so the output is VCC × code / 4096. Use a clean, stable supply for accurate voltages, and install the Adafruit MCP4725 library to get started quickly in the Arduino IDE.
