Digital PIR Motion Sensor Grove

The Digital PIR Motion Sensor Grove module detects the movement of people and animals by sensing changes in the infrared (heat) radiation in front of it. When it sees motion its output goes HIGH, giving a simple digital signal that any microcontroller can read with one pin. The Grove connector plugs straight into a Grove shield or Grove-ready board, so there is no soldering or breadboard wiring, which makes it quick to use in classes and prototypes.

Tip: PIR sensors need a short warm-up after power-on before their output is stable. Avoid pointing the sensor at heaters, air-conditioner vents or direct sunlight, which can cause false triggers.
