Description

The DS18B20 is a digital temperature sensor that sends its readings over a single data wire using the 1-Wire protocol. Each sensor has its own unique 64-bit address, so several sensors can share one microcontroller pin. It is accurate, easy to use with Arduino, ESP32 and Raspberry Pi libraries, and a favourite for weather stations, aquariums and temperature control projects.

DS18B20 Specifications

  • Measuring range: −55 °C to +125 °C
  • Accuracy: ±0.5 °C from −10 °C to +85 °C
  • Resolution: selectable 9 to 12 bits (0.5 °C to 0.0625 °C)
  • Conversion time: up to 750 ms at 12-bit resolution
  • Supply voltage: 3.0 V to 5.5 V
  • Interface: 1-Wire, with optional parasite power from the data line
  • Address: unique 64-bit serial code in each sensor

DS18B20 Applications

  • Room, greenhouse and weather station monitoring
  • Aquarium, incubator and fridge temperature control
  • Multi-point temperature measurement on one data wire
  • IoT temperature logging with ESP32 and ESP8266
  • School and university labs

What's in the Box

  • 1 × DS18B20 digital temperature sensor

Tip: Connect a 4.7 kΩ pull-up resistor between the data line (DQ) and VDD. On Arduino, the OneWire and DallasTemperature libraries handle the protocol and let you read several sensors on the same pin.
